The root
Where jersey comes from
Jersey takes its name from the Channel Island where it was knitted for fishermen — prized for warmth, give and a closeness to the skin that woven cloth could never match.
It is a single knit: one continuous yarn looped into rows, smooth on the face and looped on the back. A touch of elastane gives recovery so it moves with you and springs back true.
